Hawaiian Airlines today announced plans to launch non-stop service between San Francisco International Airport and Kahului Airport on Maui, starting Nov. 20, 2014. The airline says the expanded service will add more than 210,000 seats to both markets annually.

Company executive vice president and chief commercial officer, Peter Ingram, said the expanded service is one of several routes introduced to the Bay Area this year “in response to robust demand,” including the return of a San Jose to Honolulu route, and new seasonal non-stop flights from Oakland to Kona and Līhuʻe.

“We are very pleased to connect two existing gateways in our network together, offering Hawaiʻi residents another way to travel to the Bay Area, and Northern California travelers another reason to visit the Hawaiian islands,” said Ingram in a company press release.

The new Maui/San Francisco flight will start with flights scheduled four times a week. The airline then plans to ramp up service with daily flights between the locations beginning on Dec. 17, 2014.

The route will utilize the airline’s wide-body, twin-aisle Airbus 330-200 aircraft, that has a capacity to carry 294 passengers.
