Lānaʻi Chamber of Commerce Hosts First Ever Fifth Friday

The Lānaʻi Chamber of Commerce hosts the inaugural edition of its new Fifth Friday event on Aug. 29 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Dole Park in Lānaʻi City.

The event is open to the public and will feature food, music, raffle prizes, and more, in celebration of the “unique and cherished way of life on Lānaʻi.”

Lānaʻi Chamber of Commerce chair, Brad Bunn said the event was created to provide attendees the opportunity to get to know local businesses, and encourage a continued sense of community.

Attendees can purchase a stamp card for $5 in advance (or $10 at the event) and enjoy offerings, discounts and prizes from the following local and neighboring businesses (the list is subject to change): Mike Carroll Gallery; Cory Labang Studio; Canoes Lānaʻi; Blue Ginger; Island Treasures; Pūlama Lānaʻi; Project Caya; Mimi’s Salon & Spa; The Local Gentry; The Lānaʻi Art Center; Ānuenue Juice Bar; Pele’s Other Garden; Island Images Salon; Café 565; Kumu ʻOla Farms; Fusion Food Truck; Hawaiʻi Western Adventures; Religious Experience Salsa; and Carmen’s Mexican Food.

Stamp cards are available for purchase at any of the participating local businesses after Wednesday, Aug. 20.

Local and neighboring island performers will be playing at various locations throughout the event including the following confirmed venues:

• Café 565 visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy sounds from Bobby Zarsoza;
• Dr. Greg & Pierce Myers will be at Lānaʻi Art Center; and
• Mimi’s Salon will be home to additional musical talent during the event.
• Pele’s Other Garden will feature Lānaʻi’s own RedKrown band during extended hours for those that want to continue the celebration.

“As a long standing resident and small business owner on Lānaʻi, I can’t express how grateful I am to the Chamber,” said Barbara Lucas, owner of Pele’s Other Garden in a Chamber press release. “Fifth Friday Lānaʻi is an example of how the Chamber is dedicated to the success of businesses like mine by providing opportunities and avenues to promote our businesses.”

The event is sponsored by the Colation for a Drug-Free Lānaʻi, a program that promotes a healthy and drug-free lifestyle on the island.

The next Fifth Friday event is scheduled to take place on Friday, Oct. 31, 2014.
