This Saturday August 30, the Makena Beach & Golf Resort is once again offering their monthly Food and Wine Education Series Dinner.

This time the event will feature Wine Educator and Advanced Sommelier Charles Fredy, who will bring three wine varieties specific to Marianne: Chablis, Beaujolais and Bordeaux.

The resort notes that Fredy, currently Vice President for Chambers and Chambers wine merchants,  is filling in for the event’s customary expert Master Sommelier Patrick Okubo and “offering a wine influenced je ne sais quoi all his own.”

The resort’s Chef De Cuisine Kurt Lesmerises pairs the wine offerings with three classic French and fusion dishes, all the while offering a  food demonstration.

Wines and pairings for the event include:

  • Mahi Mahi with butter sauce paired with Domaine Jean Marc Brocard, Chablis Sainte Claire 2011
  • Braised Short Ribs with Crispy Rice accompanied by Chateaux De Pierreux-Brouilly, Cru Beaujolais 2012
  • Lamb Chops with Rosemary-Mustard Sauce and Chateau Tour Castillion, Medoc, Bordeaux, 2009

The tasting starts at 6:30 p.m. in the resort’s Molokini Bar & Grill and  is offered at $45 per person, not including tax or gratuity.

Seating is limited, and reservations are recommended. Call 808-875-5888 to make yours.
