Maui Crime Log: 24 Burglaries, 17 Vehicle Break-ins

Maui police responded to 24 burglaries, 10 vehicle thefts, and 17 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period, between August 17 to 23, 2014.

Of the 10 vehicle thefts, five vehicles have since been recovered.

Burglary incidents remained high with 24 incidents compared to 30 reported the week before.  The greatest number of burglaries were reported in Wailuku and Lahaina where four incidents occurred in each location.

Vehicle break-ins were up to 17 for the week, an increase from the 11 incidents reported the week before.  The greatest number of incidents were reported in Kīhei and Lahaina where five incident were reported at each location.

Haʻikū:

• Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, 5:18 p.m.:  400 block of Kaupakalua Road.  Residential, forced entry.

Kāʻanapali:

• Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, 7:48 p.m.:  Kāʻanapali Parkway at Whaler’s on Kāʻanapali Beach.  Residential, unlawful entry.
• Sunday, Aug. 17, 2014, 10:08 p.m.: Kekaʻa Drive at Maui Eldorado.  Non-residential, unlawful entry.

Kahului:

• Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, 7:39 a.m.:  Kaʻahumanu Avenue at Community School. Non-residential, forced entry.
