Lanai High School hosted its first prep football game since 1953 Saturday at the Lanai Community Football Field in Lanai City.

Making its Maui Interscholastic League 8-player football debut, the Pine Lads were beaten by visiting Molokai, 33-0. The game was the 2014 season opener for both teams.

Alden Abafo scored a pair of rushing touchdowns for Molokai and Kaimana Kahele and William Dela Cruz caught touchdown passes.

Lanai is coached by Stephen Ferguson and the Pine Lads fielded 31 players.

On Friday, Hana spoiled Kihei Charter’s 8-man football regular-season debut 64-15 in Hana. The Dragons led 20-6 at the end of the first quarter and 42-12 at halftime.
