Rainfall Slight, But Breaks Record in Kahului

A new record rainfall amount was recorded in Kahului on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014.

While it was a small amount of 0.27 inches, it broke the old record for the same day of 0.25 inches set in 1958.

Rainfall totals were more significant in other areas of the island yesterday including Māhinahina, which recorded 2.9 inches over the 24 hour period ending at 5 a.m. today; Puʻu Kukui which recorded nearly 1.5 inches; and Pukalani, which had over an inch of rain over the same period.

Partly cloudy skies are expected today with lots of morning sunshine for leeward areas. Scattered windward and mauka showers will mainly fall at night with models showing less than 1/4″ of rain expected for windward spots on Maui.
