Maui Crime Log Nov. 9-15: Burglaries, Thefts, Break-ins

Maui police responded to 16 burglaries, 10 vehicle thefts, and 18 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period, between Nov. 9 to 15, 2014.

Of the 10 vehicle thefts, one vehicle has since been recovered.  There were two incidents each reported this week in Haʻikū, Kīhei, Lahaina and Nāpili.  Vehicle thefts were up from the 8 incidents reported a week earlier.

Burglary incidents also decreased with 16 burglaries reported over the week, down from 20 the week before, and 26 the week before that. The greatest number of incidents were reported in the Wailuku area where four incidents occurred. Other burglaries were spread out across the county.

Vehicle break-ins were up to 18 from 17 reported the week before.  Five of the incidents were in Kahului, followed by three incidents each in Lahaina and Wailuku.

• Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, 10:20 a.m.:  Haleakalā Highway at Hāliʻimaile Road in an HC&S field, approximately 1 mile off of Hāliʻimaile Road, non-residential, unlawful entry.

Hāna:

• Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, 10:56 a.m.:  Hāna Highway at Mile 31, non-residential, unlawful entry.

Kahului:

• Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, 4:28 p.m.:  200 block of Hoʻohana Street, non-residential, forced entry.
