Stores Adopt Non-Profits for “Pāʻia Gives” Shopping Event, Dec. 20

The Pāʻia Town Association is backing the return of Pāʻia Gives, an annual event that raises thousands of dollars for charities and non-profit organizations adopted by each participating store.

Now in its ninth year, the Pāʻia Gives event will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 in Pāʻia Town.

The festive evening of shopping and giving includes special deals and giveaways at participating North Shore businesses.

At least three Pāʻia businesses–Milagros, Prospect Pāʻia, and Sophia Grace–will be donating a portion of their proceeds to the Duke Family and Team Trucker, a campaign to support Trucker Dukes, a little boy from Maui in his fight against cancer.

The Pāʻia Merchants Association released the following list of stores and the non-profit groups that they have partnered with for this year’s event:

Art Galleries

Art Project Pāʻia: (77 Hāna Hwy; phone 214-6949) will be donating a portion of the night’s proceeds to benefit the Maui Humane Society.

Maui Crafts Guild: (120 Hāna Hwy; phone 579-9697). Each guild artist has contributed to a gift basket. Customers are invited to make a donation and receive a ticket for a chance to win. Proceeds benefit the East Maui Animal Refuge.

Maui Hands: (84 Hāna Hwy (579-9245) We will be raffling off a 19” hammered metal petroglyph turtle by Charles Corda, valued at $125.  Tickets for the raffle are $5 each or 5 for $20. All proceeds go to support Laʻa Kea Farm. Refreshments will be served as part of the celebration.

Biasa Rose: (104 Hāna Hwy; phone 579-8602) will host holiday festivities benefiting Maui Humane Society.

By the Bay: (90 Hāna Hwy; phone 579-8340) proceeds from festivities will benefit the Maui Humane Society.

Lilikoʻi: (18 Baldwin Ave; phone 579-6055) will be donating to the Wings of Aloha program at the Maui Humane Society.

Mahina: (23 Baldwin Ave; phone 579-9131) will be raising funds for Women Helping Women in an effort to help stop domestic violence.

Moonbow Tropics: (36 Baldwin Ave; phone 579-3131) will raise funds for the Boo Boo Zoo.

Maui Girl: (12 Baldwin Ave; phone 579-9266) will offer 20-50% off the entire store all day.

Nuage Bleu: (76 Hāna Hwy; phone 579-9792) will be selling raffle tickets. Each $5 donation gives ticket holders a chance to win one $200 shopping spree or a piece by Hula Hoops Jewelry. All donations benefit A Keiki’s Dream. Holiday cheer will be served from 4 to 8 p.m.

Oceania Maui: (120 Hāna Hwy, Ste 3
; phone 579-6063) Oceania Maui is supporting the Hawaiian Immersion Program at Pāʻia Elementary school with a percentage of every purchase.

Pāʻia Mercantile: (2 Baldwin Ave; phone 579-6388) A portion of the day’s sales will benefit the Maui AIDS Foundation.

Pāʻia Style: (40 Baldwin Ave; phone 575-7327) will be offering 10% off merchandise within the entire store.

Pāʻia Trading Company: (106 Hāna Hwy; phone 579-9472) will be donating a percentage of sales to the Pāʻia Youth Center.

Prospect Pāʻia: (115 Hāna Hwy) will be serving up holiday refreshments during shopping with 20% of the days’ sales and any donations going towards Team Trucker, a campaign to support Trucker Dukes, a little boy from Maui in his fight against cancer.

Sophia Grace: (36 Baldwin Ave; phone 280-3595) proceeds will benefit the Dukes family to support Trucker Dukes, a little boy from Maui in his fight against cancer.

Tamara Catz: (83 Hāna Hwy; phone 579-9184) will be raising funds for the Friend’s of the Children’s Justice Center Maui, a non-profit organization that helps children of Maui affected by abuse or neglect. From now through Dec. 20 the retailer will be accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys for boy or girls at thestore to be donated to the center. Anyone in the community is invited to drop off toys. On Saturday, Dec. 20, during the Pāʻia Gives event, the retailer will be donating 10% of all sales to the center as well. Customers will be treated to cider and chocolates.

Wings Hawaiʻi: (69 Hāna Hwy; phone 579-3110) is partnering with the Maui Humane Society for the Pāʻia Gives event.

Grocery and Wine

Mana Foods: (49 Baldwin Ave; phone 579-8078) will be raising funds for Pāʻia School during the Pāʻia Gives event.  If a customer brings their own bag they can choose to take 5-cents off their total or donate it to Pāʻia School.  Customers can also donate any amount to Pāʻia School at the register when checking out.

Wine Corner: (149 Hāna Hwy; phone 579-8904) will be raising funds for the Pāʻia Youth and Cultural Center. Da Vine Art will also host a table in the Wine Corner’s parking lot. Pāʻia Youth and Cultural Center staff and youth members will sell hats, cookbooks and other items during the Pāʻia Gives Event. There will also be a raffle.  Also on hand will be Honi Designs Hawaiʻi and ʻEkahi Sunrise who will sell their jewelry and donate a share of the profits to the Pāʻia Youth and Cultural Center.

Home Furnishings

Indigo: (149 Hāna Hwy; phone 579-9199) will be raising funds for the Pāʻia Youth and Cultural Center’s RadiOpio. A portion of the night’s proceeds will benefit the Pāʻia Youth and Cultural Center .

Pearl: (71 Baldwin Ave; phone 579-8899) Pearl Butik, along with Maui Children’s Bookstore pop up shop will donate 10% of the days sales to the Laʻa kea Foundation, a residential farm where individuals with intellectual disabilities are part of a thriving community. Customers will enjoy pūpū, music and a chance to win a cozy throw. The store will offer extended hours until 8 p.m.

Restaurants

Flatbread: (89 Hāna Hwy; phone 579-8989) will host a special benefit night for Benny.

Milagros: (3 Baldwin Ave; phone 579-8755) will be donating a portion of the day’s proceeds to the Dukes Family to support Trucker Duke’s fight against cancer.

Rock & Brews: (120 Hāna Hwy; phone 579-9011) will be donating to Toys for Tots as part of it’s 12 Days of KISS-mas promotion (running from Dec. 12 to 23, 2014).  For every toy received, Rock & Brews will be giving the donor a $5 gift card to use towards a meal at R&B.
