Skyline Eco-Adventures, a commercial zipline company on Maui, raised an estimated $7,500 for local Maui charities during its fourth annual “Zip for the Trees” community event and fundraiser held last month at its Haleakalā Maui course located on Crater Road in Kula.

Funds raised will go toward the support of Maui Children’s charities along with native reforestation on Skyline’s Maui zipline course along the slopes of Haleakalā.  Local non-profit groups named as benefactors for the fundraiser included: the Children’s Justice Center, the Hui Mālama Learning Center, and Maui Youth and Family Services.

The company more than doubled the amount of funds raised this year through by offering discounted zipline tours, with proceeds going toward the partner charities. The event also included live music, prize giveaways, and horseback rides.

Last year, volunteers worked to restore nearly an acre of native forest.  Company officials say employees and volunteers this year planted more than 300 native trees and removed invasive species in a large-scale effort to restore the native forest in the area.

Skyline operates two Maui zipline tours at Kāʻanapali and Haleakalā, in addition to the Akaka Falls Skyline Adventure on Hawaiʻi Island, and the Poʻipū Skyline Adventure on Kauaʻi.
