5 Deputies Sworn-in to Sheriffs Division on Maui

Five Maui recruits with the Public Safety Department were among the recent graduating class of new deputies in the state.

A total of 30 deputies were added to the Sheriff’s Division and will be assigned to departments across the Hawaiian Islands.

The recruits were trained in nearly 1,000 hours of academic instruction in laws and procedures, testing, training in physical fitness, and police tactics.

Sixteen deputies will be assigned to Oʻahu, eight to Kona on Hawaiʻi Island, five to Maui, and one will go to Kauaʻi. The Sheriff Division carries out law enforcement services statewide with a mission to preserve the peace.
