UPDATE: Kahakaloa Resident Dies in Lahaina Harbor

Maui County Police reported that Kahakaloa (MPD initially reported that he was a Waihe‘e resident) Ramzey Hoopi‘i, age 41, was found floating lifeless in the ocean outside of Lahaina Harbor on Tuesday, Dec. 30 at approximately 6:15 p.m.
Hoopi‘i was last observed as a passenger on a boat returning to Maui. After he was found in the water, Hoopi‘i was brought aboard the boat and cardiopulmonary resuscitation was conducted.

Once reaching the Lahaina Harbor, Maui medics and fire and police personnel took over lifesaving measures.
Despite all life saving measures, Hoopi‘i died.
