Delima Promoted to Maui Police Captain

The Maui Police Department today announced the promotion of Peter Delima to the rank of Captain.

Delima is now assigned as Commander of the Internal Affairs Division, with his promotion taking effect on February 1, 2015.

Delima began his career with the department in 1985 after graduating from the Police Recruit Academy.

He served his first assignment with the Wailuku Patrol Division, and later was transferred to the Molokaʻi Patrol Division.

After a year on Molokaʻi, Delima was assigned to the Lahaina Patrol Division where he stayed for four years. While in Lahaina, Delima served as a Field Training Officer.

In 1991, he was assigned to the Criminal Intelligence Unit until his promotion to Sergeant in 1995. As a Sergeant Delima served in Wailuku Patrol, the Wailuku Criminal Investigation Division, Internal Affairs Division, Vice Division and the School Resource Officer Program.

In 2010, Delima was promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned to Command the Lānaʻi District for one year. Upon returning to Maui, he was assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division as its Property Crimes Lieutenant. In January of 2014, Delima took over as the Lieutenant of the Crimes Against Persons Division; and in 2008, he was awarded the Departments Manager of the Year for the County of Maui.

Delima has served as a member of the Special Response Teams, Crisis Negotiation Unit since its inception in 1992 and presently serves as its team leader.

In his free time, Delima enjoys coaching youth sports with the All Pono Organization. He is also married with two children.
