Seabury Student’s Work with Assistance Dogs Spotlighted on HIKI NŌ

Seabury Hall student Kathryn Peterson is featured in the upcoming edition of HIKI NŌ, the student news network broadcast on PBS Hawaiʻi.

Peterson, who has volunteered her time training assistance dogs since she was 10 years old, is now a senior at Seabury Hall on Maui.

Her passion about the service that assistance dogs provide, translates to more independent and fulfilling lives for people with disabilities who are paired with the dogs after training.

Fellow students at the Seabury Hall Middle School profile Peterson in the episode, which is set to air at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, on PBS Hawaiʻi.

This episode of HIKI NŌ is hosted by Waipahu High School on Oʻahu, and also includes stories prepared by students from other schools around the state.

HIKI NŌ is the first statewide student news network in the US, made up of 90 public, private and charter schools from across the islands. Through the production of video news stories about their schools and communities, students gain valuable workforce and life skills, while teachers engage their students in hands-on, collaborative learning.
