Motown Legend to Play Maui for First Time

It’s been said you can’t hurry love, and the same seems to be true for Ms. Diana Ross.

Promoters note that the legendary former Supreme’s career spans over six decades, yet she has never once performed a full-length concert in Hawaiʻi.

Until now.

On Sunday, June 14, the veteran star is bringing her show to The MACC’s intimate Castle Theater. 

Wielding such classics as “I’m Coming Out,” “Baby Love,” “Stop! In the Name of Love,” “Upside Down,” and “Why Do Fools Fall in Love,” expect more hits than Sadaharu Oh.

Producers promise a “complete theatrical experience, filled with breathtaking costumes, an elegant stage design, and a massive catalog of successful songs.”

Ross is also an Academy Award-nominated actress; a Tony and Golden Globe winner; a bestselling author; the winner of eight American Music Awards and the recipient of the Grammy Award for lifetime achievement; and she has sold over 100 million records and recorded 18 No. 1 hits. 

Word on the street is that the legend also puts on a good show.

Reviews have been stellar for her recent sold out performances: The Star-Telegram in Texas raved: “Diana Ross held the fortunate (audience)… in the palm of her hand from the beginning and never let them go.”

As the icon of stage and screen herself has stated, “My interaction is with the audience on a one-to-one. I always try to see their faces and try to see their eyes. It’s that harmonious vibration, good energy that flows between the audience and myself and the band and the music. Music is like love. It feels good. It’s about sharing. Presuming their ain’t no volcano high enough to keep you from getting to her, tickets to see Billboard Magazine’s declared “Entertainer of the Century” go on sale next Friday, March 27, at 10 a.m. They are priced at $250, $150, $100 and $75 each.
