A 35-year-old Maui woman was flown by medevac to the Maui Memorial Medical Center on Saturday, March 28, after falling 15 feet from a cliff just north of Kapalua Bay.
The incident was reported at 3:37 p.m. near the location known as “The Cliff House” in West Maui, fire officials said.
Crews arrived on scene to find a woman lying unconscious on rocks below a 15 foot rocky ledge with injuries to her head and arms, according to Captain Edward Taomoto, Acting Fire Services Officer for the Maui Department of Fire and Public Safety.
Bystanders found the woman lying on the rocks, but no one actually saw her fall, said Capt. Taomoto in an incident report.
Firefighters from Nāpili and Lahaina were dispatched to the scene where they packaged the woman onto a backboard and carried her up to a landing zone established on a nearby residential lawn where paramedics treated her, according to department reports.
The woman was flown to the hospital in serious condition.
