13 Maui Students to Receive Scholarships at Tonight’s Gintong Pamana Banquet

The Maui Filipino Chamber of Commerce Foundation hosts its Gintong Pamana Leadership & Scholarship Awards Banquet tonight, Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at Café O Lei at The Dunes Maui Lani.
A total of 12 graduating high school seniors and one Maui Culinary Academy student will be honored with award scholarships during tonight’s event.
Each scholar excelled in academics and are also active in the community.
The largest $2,000 award goes to Joanne Patricia Valvarez Engracio, a Maui High student who plans to major in international business a the University of San Francisco.
The other recipients will receive $1,000 awards and include: Chantelle Baclay; Joy Dionicia Balinbin; Princess Jhoy Bonilla; Joyce Cebricos; Sophia Fredy; Jaclyn Gorman; Marella Idica; Jaclyn May Quedding; Paris Nicole Sensano; Liana Kahealani Phillips Tanaka; Dayna Mieko Yamasaki; and Mary Ann Ubaldo.
“Each of the scholars excelled academically, received numerous awards and are very active in the community,” said Melen Agcolicol, president of the Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation in a press release statement. “They are a shining example of Maui’s future. We congratulate them and look forward to their continued success. Thanks to the success of our Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament under the chairmanship of Bill Ruidas and our many community partners, we increased the amount of scholarships awarded from last year.”
