Ebb & Flow Arts to Participate in Xalapa Music Fest
Maui’s Ebb & Flow Arts will again participate in Festival Internacional Camerata 21 (FIC21), a 17-year-old, annual, new music festival in Xalapa, Mexico, at the University of Veracruz, under the directorship of Mexican Composer Dr. Emil Awad. This year, the festival runs from Sept. 28 to Oct. 3, 2015,
E&FA Director Robert Pollock will offer two lectures and perform a solo recital on Sept. 30.
The festival’s featured works are by Pollock, Mario Davidovsky, Roger Sessions, Jose Saldana (assistant director of FIC21), William Anderson, Peter Schat, Olivier Messiaen, Milton Babbitt, Edward T. Cone and Vivian Fine.
In Xalapa, E&FA members will again meet with long-time international partner William Anderson, guitarist and composer. He and his wife, pianist Joan Forsyth, will perform a recital as well.
Plans call for an E&FA-cosponsored guest residence in Hawai’i with Awad by 2017.
“We are thrilled to return to this remarkable new music festival,” said Pollock. “We look forward to be with the lovely and gifted Mexican people.”
