Zemlinsky Quartet Performs Tonight at The MACC
The Zemlinsky Quartet will perform at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2015, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Since its founding in 1994, the Zemlinsky Quartet has become a much-lauded example of the Czech string quartet tradition. In 2010, the quartet received the First Grand Prize in the Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition. In May 2009, they were the recipients of the Advancement Prize of the Vienna Society of Music’s Alexander Zemlinsky Endowment Fund, marking only the fourth time the prize has been awarded by a select committee.
The Zemlinsky Quartet performs regularly in the Czech Republic and abroad, and in 2012, they literally circled the globe on tour. Their repertoire is far-ranging, containing works by many leading composers, ranging from classical to contemporary.
Tickets are $35 (plus applicable fees); available online.
