UPDATE: House Fire at Kawailani Circle in Kīhei

Maui firefighters are on scene mopping up a fire at a two-story home on Kawailani Circle in Kīhei.

The fire was reported at 3:08 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2015.

Maui Fire Services Officer Edward Taomoto said one occupant was at home at the time of the fire, and was able to get out safely without injuries.

According to FSO Taomoto, flames were seen coming from the first floor of the home when crews arrived on scene at 3:15 p.m.

There were no immediate estimates on the cost of damages or the cause of the fire.

Crews responding to the scene included firefighters from Kīhei, Wailea, Kahului and a battalion chief.

Fire crews are responding to a house fire in the Waipuilani area of Kīhei in South Maui.  Emergency crews are responding to the scene. Initial reports indicated that heavy smoke could be seen billowing towards the highway.
