Kamehameha Maui Defends Title, Wins 5th Straight M.I.L. Cheer Championship

Kamehameha Maui defended their title and won their 5th straight M.I.L. Cheer Championship on Saturday with a total score of 321 at Kaʻulaheanuiokamoku Gymnasium.

Maui High School was the runner up with 266.75, followed by Lahainaluna High School in 3rd with 262.75, and Baldwin High School with 256.50 points.

Kamehameha’s winning team members included: Ashlee Sawai (12), Chaston Abut (12), Hannah Patrick (12), Chaynne Barretto (11), Hunter Logan (11), Kayla Sniffen (11), Kiana Correa (11), Chloe Lawrence (10) and Kaella Yasui (9).  Kamehameha Maui is coached by Kealiʻi Molina and Ann Saffery.

Both Kamehameha and Maui will travel to Oʻahu to compete in the 2015 Zippy’s Cheerleading Championships at the Blaisdell Arena on Saturday, Nov. 14, 2015.

The Kamehameha Maui JV team also took their respective title on Saturday with 268 points. Maui High School was the runner up with 256.50, followed by Baldwin High School with 238.25 and King Kekaulike High School with 179.75 points. Kamehameha’s JV team last took the title in 2010. Kamehameha Maui is coached by Ann Saffery and Haliʻa Kekuewa.
