25-year-old Man Critically Injured in Lahaina Moped Crash

On Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015 at approximately 11:23 p.m., a motor vehicle crash occurred on the Honoapiʻilani Highway at Dickenson Street.

Police say the crash occurred as a moped, traveling north on the highway before Dickenson Street, struck the raised curb on the east shoulder of the roadway.

According to police reports, the 25 year old male operator of the moped was ejected off of the moped and was critically injured.

A preliminary police investigation revealed that the operator of the moped was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Police say the involvement of speed, drugs, and alcohol are still pending as the investigation is ongoing.
