Maui Crime, Dec. 27–Jan. 2: Burglaries, Break-Ins, Thefts

Maui police responded to 11 burglaries, nine vehicle thefts, and 17 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period, between Dec. 27 to Jan. 2, 2015.

Of the nine vehicle thefts, one of the vehicles has since been recovered.  The incidents were reported in Wailea, Kahului, Kāʻanapali, Wailuku, Haʻikū and Lahaina.

Burglary incidents were down to 11 from the 23 incidents reported the week before. The greatest number of burglaries reported were Wailuku where five incidents were reported over seven days.

Vehicle break-ins dropped to 17, up from the 14 incidents reported the week before.  The greatest number was in Kahului with four incidents reported at the location.

Kīhei:

• Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, 8:35 a.m.:  Ahekolo St, residential, attempted entry.

Kula:

• Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, 9:11 a.m.:  12 Kiopaʻa St at Skyline Eco Adventures, non-residential, unlawful entry.

Lahaina:

• Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, 11:38 a.m.:  100 block of Hale St, residential, attempted entry.

Wailuku:

• Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, 6:09 p.m.: 1500 block of Lower Main St, non-residential, attempted burglary.
