Habitat Receives Donation from HomeStreet Bank
Habitat for Humanity Maui recently received a $5,000 donation from HomeStreet Bank.
Lisa Carillo, loan officer at HomeStreet Bank, presented the donation check to Sherri Dodson, executive director for Habitat for Humanity Maui.
Habitat for Humanity Maui will utilize the contribution to continue to build new homes and renovate substandard and unsafe housing on Maui and Lāna‘i.
Habitat Maui is currently building a new three-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Lāna‘i City and has several smaller projects in progress on Maui through its A Brush with Kindness program.
The Brush with Kindness program helps low-income homeowners make repairs and other improvements that they are unable to afford on their own.
Volunteer teams work to improve the condition of homes by repairing critical damage or by installing items that will make the home safer or more accessible—such as wheelchair ramps or grab bars in a bathroom.
To apply for the A Brush with Kindness program, volunteer with Habitat for Humanity Maui, or to make a donation, visit Habitat Maui’s website or contact Community Relations Director Max Tornai at (808) 242-1140.
