Flash Flood Warning for Oahu until 9 p.m. 12/27/10

The Flash Flood Warning for Oahu has since expired. Weather radar and rain gages showed that heavy rains have ended.

Heavy rains continue over Oahu. The Honolulu Fire Department reports flooded homes in Waianae Valley and flooding along the west-bound side of the Farrington Highway near Aliinui Drive. The Flood Warning remains in effect.

A Flash Flood WARNING was issued for Oahu until 9 o’clock tonight (Monday, December 27, 2010). Just before 6 p.m., radar showed heavy rain over the western half of Oahu. The rain was nearly stationary. Other locations in the warning include, but are not limited to Ewa Beach, Kapolei, Waianae, Wahiawa, and Haleiwa.
As a precaution, the National Weather Service advises the public to stay away from streams and low-lying areas prone to flooding. Motorists and pedestrians should not cross fast flowing or rising water in their vehicle or on foot.
The warning may need to be extended if flash flooding persists.
