By Wendy Osher
Maui’s Anna Foust returns to the Maui Civil Defense Agency, this time as the head of the Department. Foust was selected as the Emergency Management Officer (EMO) for the department, a position previously known as Civil Defense Administrator. She fills the vacancy created by the June 2010 retirement of former CD Administrator Gen Iinuma.
Foust worked as the Plans and Operations Officer for Civil Defense before transferring to her most recent position within the County’s Management Information Systems Division as a Business Continuity Plan Coordinator.
Foust’s experience in emergency services also includes a prior stint as Director and Disaster Services Coordinator
for the Maui Branch of the Hawaii Red Cross.
In making the announcement today, Mayor Charmaine Tavares said, “She (Foust) has shown great initiative and demonstrated her ability to collaborate with our partner agencies and the public.”
Foust, 42, of Wailuku, graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Miami University, and earned a Master’s in Public Administration from Keller Graduate School of Management.
