A Hawaiʻi Island resident was arrested following an investigation into a criminal property damage complaint at one of the astronomy facilities located on the summit of Mauna Kea this morning.

The incident was reported at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, when officers responded to a report of a traffic accident involving a “disorderly man” at the summit.

Police say further reports indicated that the man then attempted to forcibly enter one of the facilities.
