Brush Fire Burns in Fallow Pāʻia Sugar Cane Field

A brush fire on Saturday afternoon burned a fallow sugar cane field east of Baldwin Beach Park in Pāʻia before being brought under control.

The incident was reported at 3:49 p.m. on Saturday, April 16.

When crews arrived on scene at 3:55 p.m., just over a half-acre of mixed brush and cane was burning.

The Pāʻia crew and a Kahului water tanker brought the fire under control at 4:15 p.m. and had it extinguished at 4:46 p.m.

The cause of the fire was undetermined.
