PROPOSED PUUNANI SUBDIVISION WOULD ADD 754 UNITS TO WAILUKU
Developers are seeking approvals for a proposed 208 acre subdivision in Wailuku. The Pu’unani subdivision would be bordered by the Honoapiilani Highway to the East, Kuikahi Drive to the North, and the Waiolani Subdivision to the South. Plans call for the construction of 754 units including rural lots, single family homes and multi-family units. There is a 45-day window now open for public comments on the project’s draft environmental Impact statement.
Towne Development of Hawaii, Inc is also seeking a State District Boundary Amendment from the State Agricultural District to the State Rural and Urban Districts from the State Land Use Commission and a Community Plan Amendment and Change in Zoning from the County of Maui.
The proposed subdivision would consist of six (6) one-acre rural lots, 127 half-acre rural lots, 145 single-family residential lots, 476 multi-family units, an 11.5 acre park, and an approximate 9.6 acre storm-water retention basin. In addition, the development will provide a 25 ft. setback from Honoapiilani Highway, a 50 ft. setback from Kuikahi Drive and a 30 ft. no build zone at the southern border of the project area. The setbacks on Honoapiilani Highway and Kuikahi Drive will be landscaped.
Related improvements include site grading, subdivision roadway and utilities installation, improvement and realignment of the Old Waikapu Road to County standards, and development of an onsite water source and related infrastructure.
