UPDATE: Escapee From Maui Hospital Located, Arrested

UPDATE: On Monday, May 2, 2016 at about 1:10 p.m., Aukanaii KALALAU was located by police and placed under arrest for Escape in the Second Degree.

Maui police issued an advisory saying 26-year-old, Aukanaii Kalalau fled from the Maui Memorial Medical Center’s security at 9:15 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2016, and was last seen on foot heading towards Kaʻahumanu Avenue in Kahului.

Kalalau was last seen wearing a light blue hospital gown and light blue pants. Police say he also has a scar on the right side of his cheek and has a Hebrew writing tattoo on the right side of his neck.

Kalalau is described as an adult, Hawaiian male, standing 5’11”, weighing 160 pounds with black eyes and brown hair.

The Maui Police Department is asking for any information on the whereabouts of the man and advise the public not to approach or try to detain him, but instead, call 9-1-1. (Reference report number 16-017962).
