Voter Registration Deadline is Next Week

The Office of Elections and County Clerks of Hawai‘i remind voters that Thursday, July 14, is the deadline to register to vote in the August 13 Primary Election.

To be eligible to register to vote, you must be a US citizen, a Hawai‘i resident and at least 18 years of age.

Hawai‘i residents have several ways to register or update their registration:

• Online at www.elections.hawaii.gov by 4:30 p.m. on July 14. A Hawai‘i driver’s license or Hawai‘i State ID is required to register online.
• Mail a completed Wikiwiki Voter Registration form to your clerk’s office postmarked on or before July 14. Forms are available at post offices, libraries and at most state agencies. The voter registration form may also be downloaded from the Office of Election’s website at www.elections.hawaii.gov.
• Apply in-person at your clerk’s office or at the Office of Elections by 4:30 p.m. on July 14.

Voters who have moved or changed their name since the last election will need to update their voter registration.

Voter registration has become even more accessible with the launch of the online voter registration system. Since its implementation in August 2015, it has processed over 20,000 transactions for new registrations and updates.

In addition to registering online, voters may also utilize the system to update their voter registration, check their registration status, locate their polling place and view a sample ballot.
