The Maui Humane Society will be undergoing a large scale renovation project in August, thanks in part to the generosity of a private donor, organization leaders announced.

During renovations, the shelter will be open for business however all of the dog kennels must be empty in order to complete the renovation.

In order to prepare the kennels for construction, the Maui Humane Society will hold a “Clear the Shelter” Adoption Event, between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. from July 29 to August 2.

Thanks to a grant from the Petco Foundation, adoption fees for all shelter animals will be waived during this five-day event. All adoptable animals have received a full medical screening including spay/neuter services, age-appropriate vaccinations and have been micro-chipped.

Each adopter will also receive an adoption starter kit including a bag of cat or dog food and a complimentary health visit for their animal from a participating local veterinary clinic.

The project involves renovations to the existing dog kennels and will include new kennel fencing, installation of modern gates and repainted interiors.
