2 Maui Students Awarded Broadcasting Scholarships
The Hawaiʻi Association of Broadcasters, Inc. has awarded $38,000 in academic scholarships to assist students in their pursuit of college study and their career goal of working in the broadcast industry in Hawaiʻi.
Two Maui students were included on the list of recipients. Tabitha Blessum Baker and Jordan Jarvis, both of Kīhei are both currently attending Vanguard University. They were among a list of 19 students from across the state who received scholarship awards this year.

Kealaulaikalani Gier – attending ʻIolani School, coming from Willamette University
Danielle Ho – University of New Mexico
Jordan Jarvis – Vanguard University
Darius Kila – Southern Oregon University
Flora Ky – attending Roosevelt High School, coming from Seattle University
Zoe Leonard – Dartmouth College
Lia Mausolf – University of San Diego
Lahela Maxwell – Arizona State University
Christopher Miyashiro – attending Windward Community College, coming from Azusa Pacific College
Raven Newalu – attending UH West Oahu, coming from UH Mānoa
Adara Pineda – UH Mānoa
Ian Schumaker – Ohio State University
High school seniors and college students with a minimum 2.5 grade point average and the desire to work in the broadcast industry in Hawaii upon completion of school were eligible for awards.
The application process required a completed application form, a letter of recommendation from a current or former teacher, and a personal interview with the HAB scholarship committee.
The Hawaiʻi Association of Broadcasters, Inc. is a trade organization made up of radio and television stations whose common goal is to support and benefit the local broadcast industry.
