Q: I realize that you responded some months ago to the question, “When will the repaving be completed on the remainder of Kokomo Road?” Nothing has been done and I believe it is time for an update on the completion of this repaving job.

The bottom of Kokomo, between Manuahi Place and the Ha‘ikū Community Center is in deplorable condition, particularly in the uphill direction. Not only is it dangerous, but it is causing severe unnecessary wear and tear on vehicles using the road.

If the repaving is not going to be restarted soon, then some temporary repairs need to be done immediately. Your response would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A: Thank you for checking. The project has been delayed due to some land acquisitions that are needed; Public Works plans to bid out the project next year.

In the meantime, the Highways Division will have maintenance staff do some patching on Kokomo Road in the interim.
