NEW: Flood Advisory for Maui Until At Least 11 PM Saturday

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Flood Advisory for the Island of MAUI in Maui County, in effect until 11:30 p.m. This Advisory may be extended beyond 11:30 p.m. if heavy rain persists.
At 8:24 p.m., radar showed heavy rain near Honokohau or about 14 miles Northwest of Kahului, the area of heavy rain was almost stationary. Other locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Honolua. Rainfall runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions.
PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES: STAY AWAY FROM STREAMS, DRAINAGE DITCHES AND LOW LYING AREAS PRONE TO FLOODING. RAINFALL AND RUNOFF WILL ALSO CAUSE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS DUE TO PONDING, REDUCED VISIBILITY AND POOR BRAKING ACTION. DO NOT CROSS FAST FLOWING OR RISING WATER IN YOUR VEHICLE OR ON FOOT. TURN AROUND…DON’T DROWN.
