Mainland Flight Bound for Honolulu Diverted to Maui
A mainland flight bound for Honolulu was diverted to Maui after reports of a smoky odor in the cabin.
Hawaiian Airlines Flight HA47 departed Oakland bound for Honolulu at 9:21 a.m. local time with 241 passengers and 10 crew members on board.
The captain elected to divert to Kahului Airport on Maui in what an airline spokesperson called “an abundance of caution.”
The aircraft landed safely in Kahului at 11:29 a.m. and arrived to the gate under its own power at 11:36 a.m. HST.
All passengers have been rebooked on the next available neighbor island flights to Honolulu.
