Destination Residences Hawai‘i, a vacation rental management company based in Wailea, announced Mike Cuthbertson as the new managing director.

The company specializes in exclusive vacation residences on Maui and currently oversees more than 270 private residences in South Maui including, Wailea Beach Villas, Wailea Elua Village, Wailea Ekahi Village, Wailea Ekolu Village, Wailea Grand Champions, Polo Beach Club and Makena Surf.

In his new role, Cuthbertson will lead the Destination Residences Hawai‘i’s team in overseeing all the resort properties, expanding guest service experience and growing the brand.

“Mike’s senior leadership experience in entering new markets, evaluating opportunities and executing strategies that result in increased revenues and guest satisfaction will lead our growth in Hawai‘i,” says Steve Santomo, senior vice president of Destination Resort Management at Two Roads Hospitality, parent company of Destination Hotels. “His strong financial acumen, customer-focused intuition and multi-disciplinary knowledge enables him to build synergies between teams for accelerated success.”

Before joining the company, Cuthbertson held management positions with resort hospitality industry leaders including Intrawest, Playground Destination Properties, Hyatt Residences Clubs, Island Outpost Hotels, Carefree Resorts and Grand Bay Hotels in destinations such as Tuscany, Miami and Aspen. He moved to Hawai‘i in 2012 as managing director of development and principal broker for Timber Resorts on Maui and then Kaua‘i.

While living on Kaua‘i, he was an active member of the community. He supported and raised money for the Kaua‘i Lifeguard Association and Wilcox Hospital, and served on the board of directors for Kaua‘i Visitors Bureau. He plans on continuing his philanthropic work on Maui.
