Small Brush Fire Comes within 50 Feet of Kīhei Home

South Maui firefighters responded to a brush fire at the south end of Kenolio Road at around 1:44 p.m. on Wednesday, July 19, 2017.

Firefighters from Kīhei were on scene at 1:51 p.m. and found a 100 x 100 foot area of brush and kiawe trees burning in a vacant lot.

Fire officials say the small blaze came within 50 feet of a residential structure but was quickly brought under control at 2:03 p.m.

The fire was called extinguished at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

The cause of the fire could not be determined.

A water tanker from the Wailea station also responded to the brush fire.
