Maui Crime Stoppers Seeks Help Identifying Individuals in Threatening Case

Maui Crime Stoppers is seeking the public’s help in identifying two individuals allegedly involved in a case in which the victims were threatened at knife point after being questioned about a theft of personal property.

The incident began at around 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 when two unknown Hispanic males within a red Nissan Frontier pickup truck, approached the victims along the Piʻilani Highway in the Kanaio area, and questioned them regarding the theft of a cooler and beer.

The two males then drove towards Makawao, motioning for the victims to follow them.

Upon stopping at the Makawao Minit Stop at around 6:35 a.m., the operator of the red Nissan exited the vehicle and threatened the victims with a black folding knife.

The victims got back in their vehicle and left the area.  No license plate was observed for the red Nissan.

The male with the knife is described as: 40-50 years old, 5’10” to 6’0″, 200-220 pounds, with shoulder length black hair, wearing a white or silver t-shirt and dark shorts.

The second male is described as: 20-30 years old, 5’10” to 6’0″, 180-190 pounds, with shoulder length black hair, and was wearing a black shirt and jeans with a camouflage baseball hat.

Anyone who can identify the vehicle or the two occupants, is asked to contact Maui Police detective Dennis Clifton at 244-6433.  Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Maui Crime Stoppers at 242-6966.
