Dental Front Office Training Offered Through UHMC EdVenture
The new Dental Front Office Training at EdVenture at UH Maui College begins September 20 to provide a pathway to a career in healthcare customer service.
Students can earn a new short-term training Certificate of Professional Development in entry-level front desk training in the Dental Office. With classroom lectures and hands-on front desk experience, topics will include dental practice software, insurance billing and coding, scheduling, etiquette, time management, treatment planning and terminology, and computer/telephone skills.
“Every role in the office is important in a dental practice, but success starts and ends with the dental front office training,” said instructor Leina Shirota-Purdy.
“From the moment a new or existing patient walks through the door, the practice is being judged and evaluated. The reception area and front desk are the first and last stop for patients and it is your job to make sure their experience is positive,” said Rosie Vierra, Dental Hygiene Program Coordinator.
This six week course provides in-class lectures, hands on experience at the front desk, time management, treatment planning and terminology and scheduling. Student also learn dental practice software, insurance billing and coding, and computer and telephone skills. Participants will earn a Dental Front Office Training Certificate of Professional Development.
“This class will give you a better understanding of how the office operates and the important role you play in keeping the overall well being of the practice,” Shirota-Purdy said.
The new training program will be offered on Wednesdays, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Sept. 20 to Oct. 28 and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Oct. 6-20, 2017.
