Maui Firefighters Douse Kahului Roadside Blaze

Maui firefighters responded to a small grass fire near the intersection of Pakaula Street and Airport Access Road at 2:33 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017.
A Kahului engine and water tanker arrived at the scene at 2:36 p.m. and found a strip of grass 10 feet wide and 300 feet long burning on the south shoulder of the Airport Access Road fronting the Panda Express restaurant.
A man sleeping under a tree six feet from the flames had to be woken up.
The man was not injured.
The fire was extinguished at 2:53 p.m.
The cause was undetermined.
