Eric Church, Maren Morris Headline BMI Maui Songwriters Fest
The third annual Broadcast Music Inc® Maui Songwriters Festival will take place Nov. 29 through Dec. 2, at several venues across Maui.
The festival puts a spotlight on the art of songwriting with intimate sets from an all-star line-up at venues including Fleetwood’s on Front Street, the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort, Tommy Bahamas at the Shops at Wailea and the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.
Headliners for this year’s fest include some of country music’s best performers including Eric Church, GRAMMY winner Maren Morris and ACM’s New Male Vocalist of the Year, Jon Pardi.
“Last year’s event was one of the most unique performances I’ve ever had in one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been,” said Eric Church. “I can’t wait to go back.”
Other top songwriters at the fest will include local favorite Lily Meola, named Best of Maui for the second year in a row, Randy Houser who was touted as having “one of the most powerful voices in country music” by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, country music hitmakers Bob DiPiero, Casey Beathard and Lee Thomas Miller, Collective Soul front-man Ed Roland, and Ashley McBryde who was named Rolling Stone’s “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know: May 2017.”
Officials with the fest say many of the acoustic sets will feature Nashville’s signature “songwriters-in-the-round” where in addition to performing, songwriters share the stories behind their hit songs.
The event will be hosted by Storme Warren of Sirius XM’s The Highway.
“The BMI Maui Songwriters Festival has become a time-honored tradition that we hope to continue for many years to come,” said Mason Hunter, Executive Director, Strategic Partnerships. “The amazing songwriters performing to the backdrop of paradise, contributing to a good cause and the local hospitality of Maui, make this festival something we look forward to all year.”
A portion of the proceeds from the festival will benefit Dorvin and Betty Leis Charities, Inc., the Maui Arts & Cultural Center and the BMI Foundation, dedicated to encouraging the creation, performance, and study of music through awards, scholarships, grants, and commissions.
