Where do you find some of the best cuisine Maui has to offer,  stunning coastal views,  and an intoxicating tropical breeze? While it’s true that you may find these things in your dreams, they also can be found at “Chef’s on the Beach”, the Rotary Club of Maui’s annual fundraiser that supports numerous local nonprofits including Maui Youth & Family Services/Malama FamilyRecovery Center, Hospice Maui, Friends of the Children’s Justice Center of Maui, MauiFamily Support Services, Women Helping Women, Imua Family Services and Ka Hale AKe Ola Homeless Resource Center.

Chefs on the Beach takes place on Saturday, April 23 from 2 to 6 p.m. Held on the shoreline at Honua Kai Lani Beach Estate in Makena, Chefs on the Beach features dishes from a dozen different restaurants, along with wines donated by Alan Jahns & JMD Beverages. Participating restaurants include Roy’s, Raku at Makena Beach Resort, A Saigon Café, DavidPaul’s Island Grill, Merriman’s Monkey Pod Kitchen, Three’s Bar & Grill, Mulligan’son the Blue, Sansei, Brigit & Bernard’s, Hana Hou Café, Flat Bread Company and The Waterfront.

In addition to an afternoon of food and wine, guests will be able to bid on a wide range of items and services in a silent auction. Entertainment will be provided by Fulton Tashombe, Benoit Jazz Works with Phil and Angela Benoit and the Hawaiian Serenaders with Rich Tom and Mele Fong.

Guests will park at the Makena Beach Resort, where a shuttle will pick them up for the ride to Honua Kai Lani Beach Estate, which is near the end of Makena Road. Propertyowner Joe Sugarman donates use of the beachfront estate for this outdoor event, with the various restaurants set up in tents offering samples of a variety of dishes.

Tickets are $75 per person and may be purchased at Topaz Goldsmith & Gallery in the Dolphin Plaza, Hawaii Liquor in the Maui Market Place or Kilakila at 7 Aewa Place in Pukalani. Tickets also are available from members of the Rotary Club of Maui or by calling Event Director Harlan Hughes at 878-6356.

The Rotary Club of Maui is the island’s oldest Rotary Club, founded in 1937. It meetson Thursdays at noon at the Maui Culinary Academy’s Class Act restaurant on the MauiCollege campus, and provides a variety of local community services as well as supportfor international projects.
