William “Billy” James Merchant

William “Billy” James Merchant
October 24, 1959 – May 25, 2018

Billy was born on October 24, 1959 in Everett, Massachusetts to Albert and Mary Merchant who preceded him in death. Billy is a brother to Margaret and John Skane, uncle to their 5 children, Albert Merchant and 3 children, Victor and Kathy Merchant and their 2 children, Robert and Pamela Merchant, Maureen and Richard O’Donnell and their 3 children, George and Ann Merchant with their 2 children, Marion and Richard Valeri with their 2 children, Kevin and Joni Merchant, Michele and Paul Stagg and their two children. Billy is also a grand-uncle to 5 grand-children.He is foremost the loving husband of his amazing wife Lucia of 13 years and father of his beautiful, now 6th grader, Natalie. Billy was a good man who gave constantly to others, through not only career choices but by the way he lived his life:Billy spent 20 years in public service as a policeman with the LAPD’s gang unit and beach patrol. He also served our country in Iraq, embedded with troops with the Law Enforcement Forensic Lab. He last worked for the Ritz Carlton, providing security services in Maui. Billy was diagnosed with cancer 10 years ago and fought it with every fiber, breath and marrow of his bones to have one more day here on earth as the best earthly father. He is now beholding the face of His Savior, Jesus Christ. A private viewing, then a general viewing (9-10 am) will be held, followed by a Funeral Mass Service at 10:00 am at Maria Lanakila Catholic Church on Saturday, June 2nd, 2018, 712 Waine’e Street, Lahaina Maui. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a special fund for his daughter, Natalie Rose Merchant for her college education.

February 25, 1938 – May 24, 2018

The most loving daughter, wife, sister and friend, Sylvia Jean Hunt Maroney of Makawao had passed on Thursday, May 24th, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones under the care of Hospice Maui.

She loved gardening, saving animals of all kind and her EBay account. A Celebration of Life will be held

on Friday, June 1st, 2018 at Norman’s Mortuary in Wailuku from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with prayer service to begin at 6:00 p.m.

Sylvia was predeceased by her loving husband Patrick Maroney and her parents Dorothy May & Frederick Charles Hunt. She is survived by her sister, Wendy Rowe; nephew, Darren Rowe; nieces, Kristen Williams (Matthew), Cindy Rowe; great-niece, Hailey Rowe; great-nephew, Carson Rowe and friends, Nell, Posy, Jan, Hulu and Shirley.

A heartfelt gratitude to Lucinda, Lori and Megan of Hospice Maui for their compassionate care of Sylvia during her time there. Donations can be made to Hospice Maui & The Maui Humane Society.

Gwendolyn Borrero
November 7, 1944 – May 20, 2018

She retired as a housekeeper.Gwendolyn is survived by her step mother, Rosie Castillo; sons, Leo (Liane Sasan) Borrero, Rudy (Darlene) Borrero; daughters, Rochelle (Albert Medeiros) Borrero; half-brothers, Ruben Castillo, Sandro Castillo, Delfin Castillo; half-sisters, Julieta Castillo, Rosemarie Castillo; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren plus numerous cousins.

She is pre-deceased by her husband, Earl Nakoa and daughter, Ruby Borrero.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at King’s Chapel on Lanai. Service will begin at 11:30 a.m. with lunch to follow.

Delvin “Charlie” Amoral
March 17, 1942 – May 17, 2018

Delvin “Charlie” Amoral, 76 of Makawao, passed away on May 17, 2018 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born on March 17, 1942 in Paia, Maui.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at St. Joseph Church, Makawao, Mass will begin at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at Makawao Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.

Delvin worked for the Department of Land and Natural Resources Forestry.

He is survived by his sisters, Gwen Robello, and Marlene Bigger; nephews and nieces, Roger Robello, James (Tracie) Robello, Roz Robello Meade, John (Letti) Bigger, Brett (Lisa) Bigger, Chad Bigger, and Kelli Bigger, and nine grandnephews & grandnieces.
