Friends of the missing woman called authorities when they located the woman’s vehicle and dog near the lookout, but could not find the woman.

The dog reportedly led rescuers directly to the location on the trail where the victim was found.

The woman was unable to move or respond to verbal communications. Fire crews used a rope rescue system to bring the victim back up to the trail where Medics took over care. She was transported to Moloka’i General Hospital “alert and well oriented.”
