The Maui Humane Society will participate in national “Clear the Shelters” Day on Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018.

Thanks to support from the Savitt Family Foundation, adoption fees will be waived on all dogs, cats and critters.

More than 900 shelters nationwide will be holding adoption events on Saturday in an effort to “Clear the Shelters.”  The event was created to help address overcrowding of animal shelters and to raise awareness about the benefits of adopting from a local animal shelter.

Organizers say that across the country, over 80,000 pets found their forever homes last year during the Clear the Shelters event, and more than 153,000 pets have found homes since the campaign started in 2015.

“The Clear the Shelters adoption event is a great way to raise awareness about the many dogs, cats and critters that are in need of permanent homes,” said Jerleen Bryant, CEO, Maui Humane Society. “We are thrilled to be part of this nationwide event in order to find forever homes for all of the animals in our care.”

The Maui Humane Society is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
