Volunteer Registration Open for 2019 Sentry Tournament of Champions
Volunteer registration is now open for the 2019 Sentry Tournament of Champions, which offers a variety of opportunities to get involved and up close with some of the game’s biggest stars. The winners-only tournament returns to The Plantation Course at Kapalua from January 2 through 6, 2019.
Volunteers are an integral part of the Sentry Tournament of Champions and make it possible to conduct a world-class tournament. The event has served as one of the premier marketing vehicles for the state, showcasing the beauty of our islands via 70+ hours of television programming throughout the world to millions of viewers. It also provides a significant economic impact, and equally important, a charitable impact for Maui’s worthy non-profits. With the help of our sponsors, resort and community partners, and our volunteers, the event has raised more than $6.3 million since 1999.
Volunteers working five shifts or more receive two uniform shirts, one cap and one hip pack, one weekly pass to the tournament, shift meals and one complimentary round of golf at The Bay Course (restrictions apply). Volunteers working less than five shifts (three-shift minimum) receive one uniform shirt, a cap or visor and hip pack, shift meals and one weekly pass to the tournament. All volunteers are invited to the Volunteer Appreciation party on Sat., January 5, 2019.
New this year is the Volunteer Referral Program—people who volunteered at the tournament in 2017 or 2018 and plan to volunteer in 2019 can refer a friend to volunteer for a minimum of five (5) shifts for the 2019 Sentry Tournament of Champions and receive a Greg Norman jacket with the tournament logo. Contact your chairperson for full details (one jacket maximum).
There are various fields that perspective volunteers can be grouped, including On-Course Marshal, SHOTLINK-Laser Operator, SHOTLINK-Walking Scorer, Admissions and Information, On-Road Transportation and On-Course Transportation. Currently, volunteers are needed mainly as Marshals, On-Road Transportation and SHOTLINK-Laser Operators.
