50 Minimum Term for Capobianco Expires in 2064

The Hawaiʻi Paroling Authority fixed minimum terms for Maui inmate Steven Capobianco, who was convicted of killing his ex-girlfriend and setting her vehicle on fire.

Capobianco was found guilty in 2016 of second degree murder for the 2014 death of Carly “Charli” Scott.

Scott, who was Capobianco’s ex-girlfriend, was 27-years-old and five months pregnant at the time with an unborn child fathered by the defendant.

A minimum term of 40 years in prison was set for second degree murder and 10 years in prison for second degree arson, according to Shelley Harrington Nobriga, Intake Service Center DA with the State Department of Public Safety.

Harrington Nobriga tells Maui Now that the minimum terms reflect the consecutive sentence in the case.  According to Harrington Nobriga, Capobianco’s consecutive minimum term is 50 years, which will expire on June 29, 2064.

His longest maximum sentence is Life with Parole.
