Senator Schatz’s High School Internship program is now accepting applications. The program aims to provide a hands-on learning opportunity about the US Senate and encourage students to become leaders in their school and community.

“Young people are stepping up across the nation and making a difference in their communities,” Senator Schatz said. “This program is an opportunity for young leaders to share their perspectives with our office, and I encourage interested students from all islands to apply.”

The internship is not held in the senate office in Washington D.C. and is designed to limit conflict with school and extracurricular commitments. Students will intern in their home community and communicate with the office online. Interns must commit to the full internship period from October 2018 to April 2019. Strong preference is given to students in their last year of high school.

The program application can be found online. The application deadline is Sunday, Sept. 9, 2018 by 6 p.m. For any questions about the program, contact Senator Schatz’s Honolulu office at (808) 523-2061.
