UPDATE: Phone Service Interruption in Hāna, Maui Resolved

Update: 

As of 12:52 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, per Hawaiian Telcom, the issue has been resolved and normal phone service has returned.  Maui police thanked the public for their cooperation during the phone service interruption.

The Maui Police Department is reporting a phone service interruption in the East Maui community of Hāna.

Police say that per Hawaiian Telcom, customers with landline service are only able to call within Hāna.

They are not able to receive or make calls outside of Hāna, including 9-1-1.

Anyone needing police assistance is asked to call (808) 248-8311.

Cell phone service is not affected as this is a Hawaiian Telcom issue, according to Maui police.

Technicians are on scene trying to restore service.
