Friends of Hawaiʻi Library to Host Book Sale

The Friends of the Library of Hawai‘i (FLH) will host their seventh annual November Book Sale. This year, the sale will feature a craft fair and the FLH will be selling art from their collections. The Hawai‘i State Federal Credit Union is sponsoring the sale, which will be held at the Washington Middle School Cafeteria from Nov. 10 to 12.

The sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 10 and 11, and will end earlier at 1 p.m. on Nov. 12. The Craft Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 during the sale. Over 15 vendors will be at the Washington Middle School Courtyard next to the cafeteria. Free parking will also be available.

Over 20 categories of gently used books will be available for sale, including cookbooks, craft books, art books, fiction, non-fiction, and children’s books. There are over 100 framed pieces and unframed works in the FLH art collections, including paintings, prints, lithographs, and posters. There will also be puzzles, a hobby and how-to section, and a selection of foreign language books including Korean, Japanese, and Chinese.

Proceeds from FLH fundraisers support programs at Hawai‘i’s 51 public libraries that the regular state budget does not fund. FLH and its sponsors fund statewide programming such as the Summer, Spring, and Fall Reading Programs, National Library Week, Honolulu Theatre for Youth library tours, and the Librarian of the Year and Excellence in Service awards. They also fund books and other materials to enhance library collections and grants to improve technology and library services throughout the system.
